from the authors of Why We're Not Emergent, Kevin DeYoung and Ted Kluck
"The institutional church is so (pejorative adjective). When I go to church I feel completely (negative emotion). The leadership is totally (adjective you would use to describe Richard Nixon) and the people are (noun that starts with un-). The services are (adjective you might use to describe going to the dentist), the music is (adjective you would use to describe the singing of Barney), and the whole congregation is (choose among: "passive, "comatose", "hypocritical," or Rush Limbaugh Republicans"). The whole thing makes me (medical term)."
Completed this "Bible-Centred, God-Centred" great book. It's thoroughly interesting and occasionally very funny and yet very insightful, especially for me a young boy in Malaysia who's contemplating to be emergent, haha. Ok, most of you won't understand this... I'm totally not updated with anything else in world but Christian stuff I seemed to know too much.
This book is one that reminds of the importance of church and its institutions and religion (two words at first I really don't like). Nah, it's not as conservative and stupid and old-fashioned as you think. Would recommend those who prefer total free flow in Christianity with absolute no rules and regulations to read this and for those who think religion is just a whole set of rules and regulations that God set down to "restrict" human freedom.
Think again. Haha.
